SettlementRange exists because settlement calculators had become lead-generation bait: fake single numbers, email gates, and "a specialist will call you." We build the opposite — disclosed formulas, honest ranges, the arithmetic printed line by line, and nothing you type ever leaving your browser.
No legal rule ships on this site without being verified against a primary source — the statute text, the controlling case, or the official agency publication (state comp commissions, departments of insurance, the IRS). Citations are linked where the claim is made and repeated in each page's footer. Where a figure could not be verified to a primary source, we omit it rather than publish it — a smaller true page beats a bigger unverified one.
Every substantive page carries a visible review date. Comp rates and legal rules change on statutory schedules (many every January and July), and we re-verify against the agency sources on that cadence. Every substantive change is logged publicly in the changelog.
We publish ranges from disclosed formulas — never single-number predictions, and never "average settlement" statistics that can't be traced to a source. If a number on this site can't be recomputed by you from the formula on the methodology page, it doesn't belong here.
If any figure, statute, or rate here is wrong or out of date, email corrections@settlementrange.com. Verified corrections are fixed promptly, and material corrections are logged in the changelog with the date. We treat a documented correction as a contribution, not a complaint.
SettlementRange is an independent educational site. We are not a law firm, we do not provide legal advice, and no attorney-client relationship is created by using this site. We do not sell leads: no email gates, no phone-number forms, no "free case review" funnels, and no chat personas pretending to be people. The calculators run entirely in your browser — we never receive what you type, so we couldn't sell it if we wanted to.
Our published roadmap includes adding review by a licensed attorney, credited by name and bar number on the pages they review. Until a page carries a named reviewer, treat it as carefully sourced educational information — every source is linked so you (or your attorney) can verify each claim directly.
The tools are free and will stay free. If advertising or clearly disclosed affiliate relationships are ever added, they will never gate a tool, never influence a formula, and will be disclosed on this page and in the changelog first.
